Ahead of a trip to Washington, D.C. to study animals at the National Zoo, 9-12 students learned sketching techniques to reinforce their understanding of the animals.
WMS artists captured their visions for a peaceful world through art for the third annual Pacem in Terris Visionary Peace Youth Art Exhibition.
This spring WMS students had a unique opportunity to learn about India's Assamese culture through the arts, including an interactive workshop with the Dancing Monks of Assam.
In December 2014, the Longwood Foundation offered WMS a challenge grant of $300,000 to support our new Arts Integration initiative. Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community, we are pleased to announce that we have been able to meet this challenge. We shared this information with our community at our school’s 52nd birthday celebration.
WMS welcomed Tony Vacca as 2011's artist-in-residence. Through Tony's program, students experienced West African culture and its connection to American culture through music, dance, percussion instruments and storytelling.
