Camp Montessori: Looking Ahead to Summer 2021

We will continue to implement frequent hand-washing and increased cleaning and sanitation of all high-touch areas using EPA-approved cleaners. Additional hand-sanitizing stations have been added to all areas of the campus, and children and staff will wash their hands prior to entering and before leaving all rooms. Equipment, supplies and materials used in group activities will be cleaned before and after each use.

All children and staff will continue to be screened daily. Anyone with a temperature over 100.4°F and/or exhibiting other symptoms of illness will not be permitted to attend. Visitors will not be allowed on site without special approval.
 

The WMS building will continue to be limited to staff and students only. For the first time in the history of WMS, parents and family members are asked to remain in their cars, in the car line, and not enter the building unless there is an urgent need. Other visitors will only be permitted into the building with administrative approval (e.g., essential services to keep our facilities operational and specialists from the Office of Child Care Licensing).

Camp groups will consist of a maximum of 15 children. Children and staff will be assigned to one group for the duration of camp. These groups of campers will stay together throughout the day, with campers remaining six feet apart at all times.
 

Age-appropriate face coverings for students are required on the Wilmington Montessori School campus. At this time, the Office of Child Care Licensing strongly recommends face coverings for children ages 3 and up. WMS requires that all staff members and children in the preschool (Pandas) program and older wear face coverings.

Parents and guardians will remain in their cars during drop-off and pick-up and each cohort will have a designated area.

If it is safe to do so, elementary-age children will have the opportunity to swim at Windybush Pool each week. A limited number of groups of children will be allowed in the pool at one time. Groups will be spaced out to ensure safe physical distancing.

Weekly camp activities include arts and crafts, nature and STEAM, drama, field games, sports and movement, water play and theme-related activities. Language arts and math opportunities will be incorporated into activities to support students academically during the summer months. In an effort to provide children with the opportunity to experience off-site adventures, we will offer exciting virtual field trips designed to educate and engage.
