Through the 2023-24 school year, students in the 9-12 and Middle School programs have been focusing on community service. From gathering supplies for Faithful Friends Animal Society to volunteering at the Food Bank, and delving into discussions about food and water insecurity, our oldest students have deeper understanding of global human needs and began to consider what they could do to support the needs of the larger community.

Inspired by their learning, these students have put together a special event for the WMS community, a gathering aimed at supporting the Food Bank of Delaware, the World Food Program, Water for South Sudan, and Water is Life Kenya. At the Empty Bowl Event, WMS families and staff will purchase tickets that include a ceramic bowl (handmade by a student or staff member) and a soup dinner. The students have even created their own website to share information about this event and facilitate ticket sales.
