Inclement Weather
On many snowy days, school remains in session. However, it is occasionally necessary for safety reasons to schedule a late opening or to close for the day. This information will be announced using our emergency communication system (see below).
Emergency Communication System
In the unlikely event of a school closing, WMS will activate the Blackboard Connect 5 emergency communication system. Blackboard Connect, our first and primary method of disseminating closing information, allows WMS administration to quickly send out phone messages, text messages and emails announcing any closing or schedule change.If you would like to change your preferences for this type of communication, please use the Magnus Health System or email alert@wmsde.org. You may include multiple phone numbers/email addresses if you wish for these communications to be sent to more than one location.
2020 Snow Day Policy
Each year, the WMS calendar has snow days built into it. This year, we know there are questions about what those days will look like. We have all enjoyed the snow days of our past and look forward to those ahead. They offer a true break from our normal routines.
With that in mind, we will continue to announce snow closures as we have in the past. You will be notified of a closure through the Blackboard Connect 5 Emergency Alert System as soon as possible.
If conditions warrant closing, we will close the school for the day with no child care available. If we remain closed for more than two consecutive days, we will offer home learning opportunities as follows:

- Parents of toddlers through third-graders will receive an email with a link to activities that can be enjoyed during their time away from school.
- Students in grades 4 through 8 can access their Google Classroom account and get caught up on work that needs to be completed.
- Teachers will be in touch as needed. All teachers will be checking email as usual.
