Dear WMS Community,
Thank you for your interest in Wilmington Montessori School. We are an American Montessori Society-accredited independent school with a rich history, serving toddlers through middle-schoolers in the Wilmington, Delaware, area for the past 57 years.
This year, our return to school was preceded by months of careful planning, employing the latest research and information about COVID-19 and its transmission. We considered many options, always with the health and safety of students, faculty, staff and families as our focus. Our goal was to support in-person learning as much as possible, knowing that some families would also want the option of home learning plans for the foreseeable future.
As we have returned to campus - first for Camp Montessori and then for the 2020-21 school year - we have learned just how important it is to have the opportunity to be together. Children are delighted to be back together, whether on campus or learning from home. Community defines Wilmington Montessori School and returning to campus reminds us all of just how much our community means.
We will continue to follow the COVID-19 health and safety protocols found on the website, including daily health screenings, increased cleaning and ventilation in the building, holding classes outside as much as reasonably possible, hand washing, wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and keeping our small classes isolated as much as possible from one another. We know these efforts can help reduce the likelihood of an outbreak. Our community’s participation in following these guidelines is vital in keeping the school open and our community safe.
Working together is at the heart of WMS. This year provides an opportunity to do so in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We hope you will take the time to learn more about WMS and all it can offer your family!
