July 24-26, 2012
Take part in a comprehensive, hands-on examination of a complete curricular stage model for reading instruction.
Following a thorough overview of the developmental stages of reading, you will develop an understanding of how specific texts support your students, from preschool through sixth grade, as they progress along the reading continuum. Significant time will be spent in age-level discussions.
Participants will draw connections between the Montessori concept of Sensitive Periods and current reading instruction research while learning to recognize when students are moving "off-track." Practical instructional strategies will be offered to meet the needs of typical, advanced and struggling readers.
The 6+1 Traits of Writing
July 31 - August 2, 2012
During this three-day workshop, you will be introduced to the popular 6+1 analytic model—providing you with classroom practices to help students in grades K-6 identify quality in writing, manage their own writing process, practice effective revision and editing, and become confident writers.
Classroom, special education and English language teachers; literary coaches and trainers; curriculum specialists; and school and district administrators are encouraged to attend.
