After-school sports provide safe and fun opportunities for students to develop individual and team skills in various sports in a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment that promotes participation and recognizes the inherent value, dignity and talent of each child. Players, coaches and parents represent WMS when attending and/or participating in sporting events and practices. Everyone is expected to display good sportsmanship and a positive winning attitude.
Currently, the program provides elementary-aged students with the opportunity to participate in soccer and basketball in an intramural and interscholastic setting. The teams play other schools, and students learn basic sports skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. There is also a spring running club program, which culminates with participation in either the Delaware Marathon Relay (3.28 miles) or Delaware Marathon Running Festival's 1.2-mile children's run.
