French play showcases students' knowledge of French language and culture

May 7, 2013
On Tuesday, May 7, students in WMS's 7-9 and 9-12 programs performed the classic story "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" for their families and fellow students. Their acting, singing and dancing impressed viewers, but the most amazing aspect of their performance was the fact that it all in French!
Boucle d'Or et Les Trois Ours (the French translation of the title) was written and directed by WMS French teacher Fabienne Daniels, who begins to teach students about the French language and culture in preschool (most schools don't begin foreign language instruction until middle school).  Each year, Fabienne works with students on a new performance. Other highlights of WMS's French program include a yearly Mardi Gras celebration and a variety of "buddy" activities in which older students share their knowledge with younger students.  Following their graduation from WMS, many of our students go on to win state-wide and national awards for their knowledge of French.
Boucle d'Or et Les Troi Ours concluded a morning of special activities at WMS in honor of "Moms' Day." To view more photos from Moms' Day and the French performance, visit WMS's official Facebook page at
