WMS has rolling admissions throughout the academic year. Applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis for programs with current openings. Application materials for next school year must be submitted by January 29 for first-round decisions. We will continue to accept and review applications that are received after January 29, provided spaces are still available in the requested program. We recommend that families begin the admissions process as early
in the fall as possible before the year of planned enrollment. Once classrooms
are full, students will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a space becomes
Step 1: Parent Visit
Prospective parents are invited and encouraged to tour the school and observe
classes. Please set up a date to tour the school by calling (302) 475-0555 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also sign up for one of our upcoming open houses.
Step 2: Application
Interested families should submit an application
for their child along with a $50 non-refundable application fee. You will be
notified by mail once your application and fee have been received. Families
with children applying to kindergarten through sixth grade will then receive a letter from WMS with a Release of Information form and a teacher recommendation form (for kindergarten or grades 1-6). Parents will
need to give these forms to their child’s current school. The applicant’s
current school will send the recommendations, transcript and any standardized
test scores directly to Wilmington Montessori School.
Step 3: Parent Interview/Student Visit
The Parent Interview and Student Visit will vary depending on the age of the
Applicants to the Toddler and Primary (ages 3-6) Programs: Prospective parents
and students meet privately with the Director of Admissions and will also get a
chance to meet one of the Toddler or Primary teachers for an informal
discussion of classroom procedures, expectations and objectives.

Step 4: Apply for Financial Assistance - Optional
WMS offers tuition assistance to current and incoming families based on financial need. The financial aid program provides many students with an exceptional educational opportunity that may otherwise be inaccessible and allows for a well-qualified student body of diverse economic backgrounds. After completing the admissions application and parent interview or student visit, parents can submit an application online for financial aid. The application is not complete until last year’s tax returns are received by the FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition) program.
Note: Applications for first-round financial aid decisions were due on January 15; however, new and returning families are still encouraged to apply for assistance if they have not already done so. Please contact Nancy Oddo, Business Manager, for more information about financing your child's education at Wilmington Montessori School.
Step 5: Notification
The Admissions Committee will meet to review your child’s acceptance upon
completion of the application, visit, and submission of records. The Director of Admissions will contact you regarding the Admission Committee’s
decision. Upon acceptance you will receive an enrollment packet
that includes the contract and other documents to complete prior to
admission. A student is formally enrolled when the Director of Admissions receives the signed contract and deposit.
