WMS Receives $1 Million Matching Gift to Begin Fundraising Campaign

September 6, 2012
Wilmington Montessori School’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that WMS has received a $1 million matching gift from an anonymous donor. The generous gift marks the beginning of a fundraising campaign that will help secure the future of WMS as we prepare to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary next school year.

Founding Head of School Marie Dugan, who is currently serving as WMS’s interim head of school, said the gift will help ensure that Delaware’s oldest and largest Montessori school will continue to move forward as a strong independent school at its current 26-acre campus at 1400 Harvey Road in Wilmington.

“We are hopeful that this matching gift will inspire more giving,” Dugan said. “As the educational landscape has changed in Delaware during the past 50 years, we have continued to offer a strong, nationally recognized Montessori program that our alumni continue to attribute to their success well into adulthood. This gift is an investment in our future – in 50 more years of joyful learning at Wilmington Montessori School.”
