||Wilmington Montessori School fosters independence, kindness, self-discipline and a passion for lifelong learning in its students from ages 12 months through 12 years. Based on Maria Montessori’s child-centered teaching methods, WMS awakens the child’s spirit and imagination, equipping them with the knowledge, creativity, innovative spirit and open-mindedness that will help them excel in today’s rapidly changing world.
Classrooms offer safe, nurturing environments, with a variety of academic and enrichment programs that encourage physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth. The spacious facility also contains a well-stocked library and space dedicated to music, art, technology, French, sports and extended-care programs. Outside, the 25-acre campus provides a safe environment for recreation in its wooded trails, streams, play areas and sports fields.
Wilmington Montessori School values each child as an individual with unique educational, physical, emotional and social needs. This individualized approach helps children learn at their own pace. Respect for oneself, others and the environment is stressed at all levels. All of this occurs in child-centered, rather than teacher-directed, classrooms—giving children the freedom to grow within a prepared and structured environment.
