Wilmington Montessori School Celebrates U.N. International Day of Peace

Community News, September 21, 2011

On September 21, the Wilmington Montessori School community gathered to celebrate the U.N. International Day of Peace with a school-wide festival. The festival included participation in the Chalk4Peace program, followed by a school-wide assembly celebrating peace in both the school and greater community. At 9:30 a.m., students of all ages from toddler through 6th grade emerged from the school to draw images of peace on the pavement through the campus as a visual reminder of the school’s commitment to being a peaceful community. This activity is part of the Chalk4Peace program, which advocates for peace world-wide by encouraging young artists of all ages to draw their vision of peace in public and private spaces with sidewalk chalk.
