Dressed as light bulbs, compost bins, recycling bags and carpool vans, WMS 6th graders led the school-wide celebration of Earth Day. The 6th grade students raised environmental awareness by dressing up in costumes reflecting environmental conservation tips and sharing environmental facts with the school community. This project reflects their yearlong support of 350.org – an organization committed to increasing awareness about environmental issues.
The school also chose Earth Day to dedicate the school-wide art installation created under the direction of Artist-in-Residence, Tamara Payne. Tamara worked with WMS students to create several art projects using found and recycled items. The mosaic installation was crafted by the students and forms the school logo using pieces of broken glass and mirrors.
