WMS Annual Report Receives Gold Award from CUPRAP (The Association for Communicators in Education) - March 2012

On Thursday, March 15, Wilmington Montessori School was honored by CUPRAP, The Association for Communicators in Education, with a Gold Cuppie Award for the school's 2009-2010 Annual Report.

A Message from the Wilmington Montessori Board regarding First State Montessori Academy

Dear Friends,

First of all, we want to thank all of you who took the time to attend last night’s Town Meeting. We are so grateful for the support and energy of our community as we move forward as a strong independent school! Some of you may have seen that Wilmington Montessori School was mentioned in today's News Journal, in an article about the charter applications that were voted on by the state board of education yesterday. In the interest of being open with our communications, we would like to share the response that we have sent to the News Journal as a board to clarify our relationship with First State Montessori Academy.

Marie Dugan named Interim Head of School for 2012-13 School Year

The Wilmington Montessori School Board of Directors has selected Marie Dugan to serve as Interim Head of School during the 2012-13 school year. 

WMS Receives $1 Million Matching Gift to Begin Fundraising Campaign

Wilmington Montessori School’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that WMS has received a $1 million matching gift from an anonymous donor. The generous gift marks the beginning of a fundraising campaign that will help secure the future of WMS as we prepare to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary next school year.

At Wilmington Montessori School, we encourage peer leadership and collaboration through multi-age classrooms. Our "buddy classrooms" take this a step further by bringing older elementary students together with preschoolers to form friendships, learn and share.

This November, students in the 7-9 program spent time discussing Thanksgiving and what they are grateful for with their preschool buddies in Room 11, then created this video.
